A little bit of Mr Shifta History:

The original Mr Shifta was invented in 1989 and after 18 months of research and development, launched in 1991. Designed and produced by Barry Wilson, who originally built machines in the evenings after his normal days work as an engineers supplier. Barry and his wife Val would take their own caravan around the country at weekends demonstrating to potential customers. After a couple of years, the original Shifta was so successful, Barry was able to leave his regular job and concentrate full time on the development of Shifta Products.

Probably one of the factors contributing most to the success of Mr Shifta is that

it was built by caravanners for caravanners.

Nowadays, there is a network of 15 demonstrators (mostly caravanners too) countrywide, who travel to the customers home to give a demonstration of the abilities of Mr Shifta.

Not only caravanners use our products though, and Shifta movers of one type or another have found their way into the aircraft, car manufacturing, food producing, electronics, caravan building and storage industries to name but a few. Our customer database includes companies such as:

  • Bailey
  • Lunar and Avondale
  • Explorer Group
  • Al-Ko (who make over 90% of all U. K. caravan chassis
  • Aston Martin & Toyota
  • Phillips
  • Sanyo
  • Walkers Crisps
  • Numerous small airfields and aircraft dealers

Mr Shifta2 was released to celebrate the Millennium and our tenth year of trading. Twice as powerful as the original Shifta due to the fitting of Parvalux combined motor and gearbox, it was designed to cope with the trend of ever heavier caravans. Shifta2 was the first mover to be able to put a 1.5 tonne twin axle caravan up a one in three slope, given sufficient nose weight.

2005 saw the launch of Mr Shifts3, improved by a lighter chassis, two position handle for easy storage, and an even more powerful motor, again keeping up with the trend towards heavy caravans.

The future of Mr Shifta depends on us making the best quality caravan mover on the market. We now offer a four year guarantee and an extra two years free labour as a mark of our confidence in the product.
